Technique
1. Remove the stencil from its support. Do not pull on the stencil, remove it gently helping it with your forefinger. If some parts of the motif remain attatched to the stencil pick them out from the sticky side using your thumb and forefinger.
2. Test a small corner of the stencil on your wall. The stickiness of the stencil can be reduced by dabbing the sticky side with a damp sponge. Place the stencil into position.
3.Take up a little of the paint onto the tips of the stencil brush and blot out onto newspaper. Your brush should be almost touch dry before stencilling.
4. Hold the brush perpendicular to the stencil and place the bristles lightly on the stencil.
5.Using a relaxed circular motion, work around the edges of the cut out area.
Gradually move the paint from the stencil onto the design area.
Now circle in the opposite direction and continue to build up colour to the desired shade. Colour is controlled by the pressure on the brush and the number of times you go over the area. Remove the stencil gently from your surface.
Store the stencil on its original backing. To clean your stencil swipe it over gently with a damp cloth.
